in this project i want to use a film shot to use as a reference, to create something new but following the reference in Houdini , with solaris USD/workflow
First, I work in Nuke with the footage to track the 3D camera and extract the point cloud for use in Houdini to set the correct scale and distances.
Then I spent a few days creating a workflow to mix two worlds, height field maps + vdb modeling to work together, on the same mesh and trying to develop a way of working to use more Udims/texture res by camera path.
I tried to optimize the scene as much as possible.
I use autouv/triplannar/rizom to make uvs and substance designer + material painter.
it's a WIP, with some tests.
In the near future I want to make a desert biome with some procedural scatter systems, to create a sci-fi city and towers with rocks, desert vegetation.
My goal is to create these systems in the most procedural way .
For example, in slope areas---rock scattering, if you scatter a big rock, close to it, small ones will automatically scatter around. and in the shade of big rocks maybe a little vegetation can grow.
This is a wip, it will be updated.
